Hey guys! This is the first post in a trilogy (lol) of posts about my trip to Bintan, Indonesia with Mitch (my boyfriend)!
Wow…today was so so so awesome *-*…!
Woke up rly early at 6.30am to prep myself and also prep toast (butter sugar cinnamon) for breakfast for me and Mitch!
Ended up quite late when meeting him lol but we managed to check into the tanah merah ferry terminal on time (early actually!)
Had a terrible time on the ship ride to bintan cause it was raining and the waters were pretty rough T.T limbs went numb and it took all my willpower not to throw up! Also a lot of people were throwing up quite loudly on the ship lol.
When we reached bintan, we couldn’t find the de bintan guy who’s supposed to fetch us to the villa, so the transportation people at the ferry terminal were nice enough to help drive us there (it cost about $25 for a 40min trip). They didn’t know about my reservation apparently…DD: was so afraid things would go downhill from there but they were really on their feet and got us checked in real quick. Our cab fees would be deducted from the package too.
The staff drove us up from the lobby to our villa…it was only a few mins ride but it was super upslope and steep so walking would’ve been real tiring albeit possible hahaha.
And then after putting our baggage down the staff drove us back down again and we had an awesome lunch at our own little patio..there was rice with super delish bean sprouts, some super nice fried/grilled chicken, and a huge fried omelette. So goooood!! *_* there was also mocktail and water and a candle in the middle of the table! And as if we were being watched the whole time, right after we’re done eating, the staff came to say that we can leave for our activity after 5mins.
We were brought to some cool beach with an area where they brought up turtles.
And we were also brought to this kampung area where we played with this baby monkey (or more like the baby monkey played with us) and watched kids play kasing (spinning tops)! It was so cool seeing local areas and people and how our tour guide knew everyone that we saw everywhere we went lol.
We also went to some other beach at lagoi which was near some resort and that was so cleannnnn plus we saw tiny hermit crabs and tiny crabs too!
Next we went to the mangrove, sunset and fireflies tour, and we were brought around by the same guy again lol. It was cool going around the river on a jet and the guy was super knowledgable and friendly and funny as well :’)
After the mangrove tour, when we came back to the kelong there was already dinner set up for us! It was just a boxed meal but it was sooooo gooddddd and they even gave us water bottles with straw and set the table with a nice disposable cloth!
We didn’t get to see the sunset cause it was cloudy, but it was so cool cupping fireflies in our hands and seeing their light glowing on and off :’)))) interesting how I’m willing to touch fireflies but not flies lol but actually they look pretty much the same just that fireflies have light… They’re found in mangroves and it was so cute how our tour guide and boat driver were catching the fireflies and putting them into our hands for us!
I’m so so so amazed by the personalized, efficient, super friendly service by the people here! I never expected to experience anything like that outside of Japan! And this is so much cooler since they speak English! Our tour guide learnt English himself and says his rules are to not be shy and scared, and they work because his English is pretty good!! 🙂 he even bought some fish snacks for us awwwwww even though he totally didn’t have to…that’s so so nice even though me and Mitch aren’t rly the very talkative type, so I thought we might seem cold to him and he might not have liked us as much. But that’s probably just my thinking affecting me lol.
I’m loving my time here so much…the staff even called us at 9pm to ask if we wanted to sing karaoke cause our tour guide suggested it in the evening when he dropped us off for the day and told us it closed at 10pm. Damnnnn *_* we were too tired to go tho!
Well gonna sleep soon, long day ahead tmr! Good night!
